Dastaan LIVE is an art-rock collective merging sound and visuals to create immersive, thought-provoking experiences. Their reinterpretation of Kabira Khada Bazaar Mein draws on Bhisham Sahni’s iconic play about the 14th-century saint-poet Kabir Das. In collaboration with M.K. Raina, Dastaan LIVE reimagined the play’s visionary music, retaining its core aesthetics while modernising arrangements and instrumentation to connect with contemporary audiences. Premiering as Kabira Khada Bazaar Mein – a Rock Opera at the Mahindra Kabira Festival 2021, the show was a resounding success. Conceptualised in 2016 by Anirban Ghosh (Baan G), Nikhil Vasudevan, and Sumant Balakrishnan, Dastaan LIVE has since established itself as a distinctive voice in alternative arts, fostering dialogue, critical thinking, and fresh interpretations of classic works.
